contribute to our collective success?AXIS Re is looking for an
A&H Senior Underwriter who will be responsible for the
evaluation, development and underwriting of Accident & Health
reinsurance business in our United States division. It is expected
that the individual in this role will independently develop new
sources of reinsurance business flow and oversee the underwriting
and installation of both program and excess of loss opportunities.
As a senior underwriter they will also be responsible for the
ongoing management, monitoring and profitability of this
business.What will you do in this role?
- Develop and execute of strategies for generating reinsurance
opportunities.
- Establish or expand relationships with ceding carriers.
- Actively manage relationships with reinsurance intermediaries
and other production sources.
- Actively participate in strategy and business planning
activities.
- Participate in the development and execution of strategies to
expand into new market segments or products as necessary.
- Play a lead role in the underwriting and pricing of new and
renewal business to ensure it matches the satisfactory
profitability expectations in that specific class.
- Lead Peer Review sessions to educate and develop the required
consensus for large or unique opportunities.
- Liaison with Reinsurance Actuarial staff and Chief Actuary in
periodic monitoring and reserving of assigned business.
- Oversee the management of assigned business as per established
guidelines including periodic program management meetings, required
data flow and audits.
- Insert Axis claim expertise and an expanded value added Managed
Care offering where / if possible.
- Assume staff management responsibilities as necessary.You may
also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and
activities appropriate to the nature of this role.About You:We

knowledge might lend itself to fulfilling this role and help us
achieve our goals.What you need to have:
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably concentrated in a technical or
insurance related business field
- Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in the
A&H Insurance or Reinsurance industry
- Advanced knowledge of actuarial and pricing concepts used in
the evaluation of A&H risks.
- Strong industry relationships and well respected by reinsurance
brokers and insurers
- A strong grasp of policy forms, contract wording and an
understanding of the impact of claims, actuarial, accounting, and
finance in the underwriting processWhat we prefer you to have:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook,
Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication
skills
- Strong interpersonal and technical skills; Preferred some level
of actuarial training
- Ability to manage multiple projects/programs successfully,
simultaneously
- Strong focus on identifying client needs and flexibility in
developing solutions
- Highly collaborative and versatile; with the ability to work
effectively both independently and as part of a team.Role
Factors:Be in the office 3 days per weekWhat we offer:For this
position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range
of $250,000 to $290,000 (NY and NJ), $230,000 to $270,000 (IL and
CT). Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety
of factors including your specific experience and work location.In
addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive
compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual
performance. On top of this, you will be eligible for a
